Student Expectations
I believe that lifelong success depends on self-discipline. I have developed a Classroom Discipline Plan that allows each student the opportunity to manage his/her own behavior. Working together, we can ensure your child will be part of a positive and meaningful learning environment that will help them through their 2nd grade year and beyond. Here are some basic expectations I have for all students:
~Students will try their absolute best at all times.
*Don't give up when a task is challenging, do your best to succeed!
~Be safe!
*Walk in the classroom and hallways.
*Keep hands and feet to yourself.
*Make sure you can see a teacher at ALL times.
~Be respectful.
*Listen when others are speaking.
*Raise your hand for a turn to share.
*Follow directions the first time.
*Help keep our classroom and school clean and orderly.
*Be kind to others.
~Be responsible.
*Clean up after yourself.
*Bring your backpack and folder to school each day.
*Come to school ready to learn
At no time will it acceptable for a student to prevent a teacher from teaching or another student from learning. Students are expected to engage in activities that are in his/her best interest and promote a safe and meaningful learning climate.
Parent Expectations
I invite you to be a partner in your child's education. Here is how you can help:
St
ay-Tuned: Ask your child what he or she is studying and look in your child's Bobcat Binder every night. The Bobcat Binder is where you will find newsletters and notes that are sent home, as well as any homework that has been assigned. My weekly newsletter will help you keep up with important things in our classroom. I will send home progress reports or make phone calls as needed.
Ask Questions: If you have any concerns or are wondering why something is happening, please
feel free to call or email me at any time. I welcome all concerns, ideas, and feedback that affect your child or our classroom.
Homework: You should expect that your child will have some type of homework most everyday. You will always find the homework assignments written on the monthly Homework Agenda located in your child's Bobcat Binder. I encourage you and your child to establish a scheduled time for homework each day. Students should be able to do most assignments independently, but please offer help if it is completely necessary. If you notice that your child is not able to do an assignment on his or her own, please send a note or jot a note to me on the assignment. I will contact you if your child is falling behind or turning in poor work.
Snack: All students may bring a nutritious snack and a bottle of water to school every day. Reusable water bottles with your child's name clearly marked are preferred. Please also give me a heads up at least a day ahead of time if your child is planning on bringing a treat to share for his/her birthday. Please remember that items containing nuts are prohibited.
Arrival Time: I request that students arrive to school no earlier than 7:30am. It is not safe for students to be on campus with no adult supervision. I certainly do not want your child to get injured prior to the start of our learning day.
Learning is a journey, not a race.
